Up Close at the Dance Hub 2023

The Dance Hub Community in Performance

American Dance & Music is pleased to present its 2023 annual event, Up Close at The Dance Hub. The hour-long performance features the talents of The Dance Hub Community—its teachers, students, and renters—highlighting the diversity of dance styles that this event has long been known for. On this performance you will see:

• The Dance Hub Performance Group performing a new work evocative of the character dances you would see in a full-length classical ballet reimagined by AD&M artistic director Carrie Diamond with music by AD&M music director Eric Valinsky. The performers are Dance Hub students Emily Bredy, Lisa Fukunaga, Sandi Lester, Baily Longstreth, and Lauren Rowse.
• Baile de California, directed by Diana Replogle-Purinton, will present a selection of historic folkloric dances dating from the early days of Santa Barbara
• Geraldine Freitag and Marlon Ruckle will dance Argentine tango with all the elegance and romantic passion of the social style
• E. Bonnie Lewis will return, this time directing a modern dance improvisation, performed by Dance Hub students El Caris Camarillo and Julia Edwards.

Up Close at the Dance Hub will present two shows, at 2:00pm and 4:00pm. Seating is limited so audience members will need to reserve their spots online in advance. To help fund this event and future performances, AD&M will be collecting donations online*. Suggested donation is $25 per seat with a minimum donation of $10. The safety and health of the audience and the performers is a primary concern of AD&M. For this reason, attendance will be limited and masks are to be worn at all times.
